Important Bulletins:
Support groups statewide offer opportunities to share feelings and concerns, network about  resources and
information, and give and receive mutual support. Those affected have comfort in knowing “they are not alone” when
mental illness strikes their family.

NAMI support groups follow the NAMI model.  NAMI Arizona offers support groups across Arizona for the family
members, friends, and loved ones of those with mental illness.  Family-to-Family support groups are headed by trained
facilitators who are family members of persons with mental illness.  These support groups are for family members,
friends, and loved ones of those with the mental illness.

The NAMI Support Group model (formerly called the "Family-to-Family Support Group model") operates differently than
other, more traditional "share-and-care" groups. The NAMI Support Group model offers a set of key structures and group
processes for facilitators to use in common support group scenarios. These structures come with clear guidelines to
follow; used together, they encourage full group participation in support group meetings.

Family Support Groups are the longest running program in Arizona, and for good reason: they can be extremely helpful.
