âHaving recently had a heart problem myself, I know that most women have different symptoms and challenges than men. I want to help an important and wonderful organization like the American Heart Association support and educate women with heart problems, “said Laurie Sewell, President and CEO of Servicon.

Servicon, a leading provider of regulatory and infection prevention services, today announced that its President and CEO Laurie Sewell has been appointed to the Executive Leadership Council of the American Heart Association (AHA) Greater Los Angeles. Sewell will be an important part of the organization’s efforts to achieve Go Red for Women.
A signature initiative for AHA, Go Red for Women, is a comprehensive platform designed to raise awareness of women’s heart health and act as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women around the world.
“It’s no longer just about wearing red and sharing heart health facts,” said Laura Nichols, vice president of social markets for the American Heart Association. “It’s about all women making a commitment to stand by Go Red and take responsibility for their own heart health and the health of those they love.”
AHA also reminds those involved that you don’t have to work for your health on your own. They encourage attendees to grab a friend or family member and make a Go Red commitment to healthy behavior.
“There is so much misinformation and fear about heart disease in women,” Sewell said. âHaving recently had a heart problem myself, I know that most women have different symptoms and challenges than men. I want to help an organization as necessary and wonderful as the American Heart Association support and educate women with heart problems. “
“The American Heart Association is so grateful for the volunteer leaders who invest their time and talent to support our mission,” said Nichols. âLaurie is the perfect example of a local leader whose passion, commitment and a robust network of connections lead to transformative growth and impact. We couldn’t be more honored for the opportunity to work with her and welcome her to the AHA family. “
