HSEM publishes 2020 annual report

The City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) has published its 2020 annual report.

This report gives an insight into the past year and sheds light on COVID-19 operations in an unusual year for the HSEM office. It has been a year of unique and challenging challenges for the community in dealing with the global pandemic.

While COVID-19 was the headline for 2020, the staff at HSEM, Travis County, and partner agencies continued to face additional challenges over the year, while other events took place throughout the year. and coped with numerous severe weather events from extreme heat to bitter cold. To help residents better be prepared for emergencies and be safety conscious, HSEM and the Travis County Office of Emergency Management expanded their on-call resources and worked together to develop an emergency phone application called Ready Central Texas. The app has message notifications, prep resources, and checklists to help individuals and families prepare.
