Following the Hounslow Labor Group AGM on Monday 9th May, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Parishioner for Heston West, was appointed Group Leader.

Released: Thursday, May 12, 2022

With the Labor Party regaining control of the Council in last week’s local elections, this makes Cllr Rajawat the Council’s leader-elect. Cllr Katherine Dunne, Ward Member for Syon & Brentford Lock, has been appointed Assistant Manager Designate.

Subject to ratification by other Council members at the Borough Council AGM on 31 May, they will then assume the functions of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Council with immediate effect.

Cllr Rajawat said:

“I am delighted and honored to have been elected Chair of the Hounslow Labor Group and should my position be confirmed at the Council’s AGM, I will be very honored to lead this Council and serve its wonderful communities . I am ambitious for Hounslow and committed to building on the best work of the last administration while breaking new ground to build an even better district.”

Cllr Dunne said:

“I’m incredibly proud to serve Hounslow as a cabinet member for Communities and Climate Emergencies and I’m delighted to have now been elected Deputy Leader of the Labor Group. I know that by working with Cllr Rajawat and our cabinet, we can do even more for Hounslow and improve the lives of all our residents.”

Hounslow Council Chief Executive Niall Bolger said:

“Myself and my colleagues look forward to supporting Cllrs Rajawat and Dunne in their respective roles, subject to ratification at the Council’s AGM. They will bring a wealth of ambition, dedication and experience to improving outcomes for our residents as we continue on our journey of being an excellent council serving an excellent district.”
