Ohio has a total of 2 million COVID-19 cases

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On the last day of 2021, Ohio reached a dismal milestone, surpassing more than 2 million total cases of COVID-19. In the past 24 hours, 250 people were hospitalized and 19 people were admitted to the intensive care unit. More than 29,000 Ohioans have died from the disease.

Vaccinations
Here’s how Ohio’s vaccination rate compares to other states:

To date, the COVID-19 vaccine has been used in 6,996,480 people in Ohio, which is 59.85% of the state’s population. The vaccine has been started in 10,382 people in the last 24 hours.

COVID-19 vaccination was completed in a total of 6,437,356 people, or 55.07% of the state’s population. In the last 24 hours, the vaccination was completed in 6,564 people.

Hospital stays
There are currently 5,601 COVID-19 patients in Ohio hospitals and 1,240 COVID-19 patients in intensive care.

Non-COVID patients currently occupy [blank]% of the state’s hospital beds, according to ODH. 60.4% of COVID-positive patients make up 17.1% of the beds currently available. COVID patients make up 27.65% of the state’s ICU beds, non-COVID patients occupy 59.79% of ICU beds, and 12.56% of ICU beds are currently open.

Testing
On Wednesday, the last day, 55,914 tests were performed these dates was available from the ODH. Of these tests, 27.7% were positive, compared to the 7 day rolling average positivity rate which is 28.4%. Click here for details where to get a COVID-19 test near you.
