The LGBTQ Center is hosting an open house at its new Pottstown location

POTTSTOWN – The LGBTQ Center for Better Reading at Family by Choice has announced its first event.

The center will be hosting an open house/drop-in on Wednesday, April 13 from 4-7 pm at 301 King St. in Pottstown, Pottstown’s First Baptist Church. The entrance is the door on Charlotte Street.

In March, the nonprofit organization opened two new field offices at two existing agencies in neighboring counties. A Montgomery County location in Pottstown and a Lancaster County location in Columbia.

Organization officials said the new offices would allow the center to expand its presence in those communities and enable them to provide critical resources and support to more LGBTQ+ people.

The center offers support groups, free mental health counseling, life skills programs, monthly community meals, health initiatives and pantry services. They partner and partner with more than 200 additional local social services, public health, family and other organizations to provide comprehensive support to members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Those requiring support or information about the center should visit lgbtcenterofreading.com or call 484-513-3170.
