The Nanaimo Regional Unit offers information sessions and resources for election candidates

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is hosting two informational sessions on October 15 for those interested in running for office in the 2022 local general election.

The sessions cover the duties of elected officials and the election process. They will be held on August 9th at the RDN Board Chambers at 6300 Hammond Bay Rd, Nanaimo, with the first session scheduled from 3:00pm to 4:30pm and the second from 7:00pm to 8:30pm

For those unable to attend in person, the sessions will take place web streaming and a recording will be posted on the RDN website.

In addition, nomination packages for the 2022 local general election can be picked up at the RDN Administration Office (6300 Hammond Bay Rd.) and are also available on the RDN website. The packages contain all the information needed to run for office in the municipal general elections.

Candidates may submit nomination materials to the Principal Returning Officer at the RDN Administrative Office during the nomination period beginning Tuesday, August 30 at 9:00 am and ending Friday, September 9 at 4:00 pm.

Those unable to deliver nominations in person may swear the documents in front of a BC affidavit officer and mail, mail, fax or email the documents to the CEO by the deadline. If documents are sent by fax or email, the originals must be received by the CEO by 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 16. Once received, the nomination materials will be published on the RDN website.
